The main pass over the Montemuro Mountains, at 1220 m above sea level, offers a spectacular view to the north
over the valley of the Bestança River towards the Douro River.
To the south, on a clear day, you can see the highest mountain of Portugal's mainland: the Torre in the Estrela Mountains.
There is a fountain with fresh spring water and a peculiar walled chapel. The chapel was build in 1758 in honour of Our Lord de Amparo and opens its doors only one day of the year: On the third Sunday in August when a traditional market is held here.
In the gas station, just below street level, you'll find a restaurant with one of the best views of the Douro Verde .
