The GR47 crosses the Montemuro mountains, from the Rio Douro valley to the Rio Paiva valley.
The views are amazing: on clear days it is possible to see the Atlantic Ocean and the highest mountain of continental Portugal, a Torre.
The route passes the highest point of the Montemuro, the Talegre peak (1381m). Other highlights are the cherry orchards of Resende, the traditional village Gralheira and the chapel of São Pedro do Campo.
It takes most walkers 3 days to complete the route. Camping along the route is permitted. There are also two connecting routes from/to the towns of Cinfães and Resende.
