Circular trail, starting and finishing in the mountain bike centre in Gralheira.
It is a very difficult route, to which good physical and technical preparation is advised.
Gralheira is one of the highest villages in Portugal and nowadays a popular location for a (Sunday) family lunch.
The trail is centred around the higher part of the Bestança river, one of the cleanest rivers of Europe. It also passes the higher peaks of the Montemuro Mountains, offering fantastic views in the direction of the Estrela mountains and over de Bestança valley. Percurso 45, is almost the same as Percurso 43 lengthened with an extra loop to the Saint Peter chapel (São Pedro).
From here the most challenging part of the trail starts! After 39km, in Fermentãos, at the crossing with the N321, you find a nice restaurant/bar.
NOTE: The Portuguese Cycling Federation confused the names of the Black Course 44 and Black Course 45. Therefore, we give the Alltrails link to the map of the Black Course 44.
