The Last Transhumance Route (Última Rota da Transumância) is the recreation of an ancestral shepherd tradition of migrating flocks from the foot of the Serra da Estrela to the Serra do Montemuro.

In 1999, in Montemuro mountains, the 'real' last transhumance route took place.

This year the recreation of the 'Transumância' will start in the village of Ribolhos, about 5km from Castro Daire. During the weekend, the flocks will walk to the fields of the Montemuro Mountains, at Cruz do Rossão.

Along the way, spectators can admire the beautiful sheep and goats. And there will be some entertainment, food and drinks. A unique event, well worth your visit.

! If you want to participate and walk with the flocks, inscription is mandatory. Transfer by bus from/to Castro Daire is included.
